Pallet flow racking is a high-density, first-in first-out (FIFO) dynamic storage system that uses gravity roller conveyors set at a slight decline within the rack structure to automatically advance pallets from the loading aisle to the picking aisle. Pallets are loaded at the higher back end and flow forward by gravity on full-width steel roller lanes. As the front pallet is removed by forklift, all remaining pallets roll forward automatically, keeping the pick face fully stocked at all times. This eliminates the need for forklifts to enter the rack structure and guarantees perfect FIFO stock rotation — critical for food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and any date-sensitive inventory. Each lane is an independent flow path for one SKU, holding 2 to 20+ pallets deep depending on your configuration. Heavy-duty steel roller conveyors are engineered for your specific pallet weight, size, and flow depth. Speed controllers (centrifugal brakes) regulate pallet descent speed to prevent runaway pallets and ensure safe, controlled flow. Pallet separators at the pick face hold the front pallet stationary while the remaining pallets queue behind it. Available in multiple depth and height configurations within standard pallet rack upright frames. Dramatically reduces forklift travel time and increases picking throughput compared to selective racking. Ideal for distribution centers, cold storage facilities, and high-volume order fulfillment operations.
